Why a School Farm?

1 in 4 people in Sub-Sahara Africa are affected by hunger with children being the most vulnerable.

School farm is not a new concept.

“Several years ago, the Secondary School Farm was known to be the pride of our educational system, especially in Nigeria. Students would be grouped into portions of farmland and involved in growing and harvesting healthy food for school and community consumption. And during harvest season, all students, joined by parents and the entire community, would bring their harvest together and celebrate the bountiful harvest in a grand style! And there were plenty healthy vegetables and fruits for all to eat! Our students in those days were farmers! And families were very healthy as they had access to fresh food all year round.  Students were happy to be part of the community of farmers securing the destiny of the country and producing good and healthy food for our nation. Today, the story has changed! Hardly would one find a school with a farm today.”
